About: I designed this DJ focust walkman for Harco Rutgers, and now its available as a kit.
Power: 6V DC +)- 1A or 2xAA battery.
When you put in batteries do not connect a power adapter, because then the DC voltage from the power adapter goes to the batteries, but the circuit is not a battery charging circuit. So just use one or the other, if you do have batteries in the device with a external power adapter connected this can cause damage to the batteries and to the device itself also.
The speed range will be better with a power adapter.
If you want to use headphones use batteries, otherwise there will be a hum. When you connects to something else there should be no hum.
It is easy to assemble, but when you buy a My First Sony walkman it will be second hand, try Ebay or other local second hand websites. The walkman that you need is called: Sony WM-3000.
The belts in it are usually rotten, so these need to be replaced, you can buy them on aliexpress, the belts are not included in the kit. Use the search term: Cassette Tape belts.
When you have all the parts assemble the PCB first, and then cut the legs of all the components off as short as possible.
Read these instructions, this is the same walkman that is used in this kit. The step you need to do here is to remove the 10k resistor that is in marked TH60 on the PCB. For the rest there is info about how to open the walkman.
In this image you can see what wires goes where.
After soldering the wires you can test if everything works, if so, put all back together and stick the PCB to the walkman.
