A4988E assembling manual
last update: 28 May 2024
These are the assembling instructions for the A4988E a module based on the A4988 stepper motor driver.
The SMT is already assembled. Unfortunately i made one mistakes in the layout that needs to be fixed with a extra wire, but its very easy to do.
Step 1: Solder the small components shown in the pictures below.
- 220uF capacitor: The minus is the square hole here.
- Headers: you can put in the A4988 driver to make sure it fits in when soldering.
Step 2:
- 500k potmeter: Solder the 500k potmeter to the wires in the picture.
- Place all the components (do not solder them yet).
- 500k potmeter: Solder the 500k potmeter to the wires in the picture.
- 20k potmeter: break of the small flap on the front of the pot, then put the washer on (the washer is just to make the pot stick a bit more thru the PCB when mounted to the front pannel.)
- Headers: you can put in the A4988 driver to make sure it fits in when soldering.
- LED: short leg into round hole.
Step 3:
- Mount the PCB to the front pannel with the nuts, make sure its strait (see pictures further down for guidence).
- Jumper wire: solder the blue jumper wire. (it is there because if made a mistake in the PCB design)
- Cool rib: the cool hib can be stuck on it with the double sided tape that is on it and then for extra safety i used some hot glue.
Step 4:
- Bolts: Cut the rubbers into sort of washers and mount them like on the picture with the metal washers.
- Wires: the wires that go to the piezo can go thru the mouth.
Step 5:
- Piezo GND: Solder to the ground first (the copper of the peizo to the yellow wire in this case)
- Piezo element: Solder the tin the wire first, then hold it against the element, put tin on your soldering iron, then tap in against the element and the wire tip, now it should be stuck like in the picture.
Step 6:
- Motor Connector: Feed it thru the hole, it can go thru sideways.
- Motor: Mount it with the copper spacers and finish like in the picture below.
